| Grace Institute is defying the odds--one job at a time. The school continues to place its graduates in the wake of a city unemployment rate of 10%. Despite one of the worst economic downturns since the Great Depression, Grace Institute is getting unemployed and underserved NYC-area women back in to the workforce, one job at a time. Through its tuition-free business skills program, students learn the computer and business skills necessary to secure jobs, and keep them, in a tight job market. | |

| More than 100 attendees braved the rain to kick-off Grace Institute's Grace Day celebration. Since 1897, Grace Institute has educated underserved women in New York City, preparing them for employment with competitive pay in administration careers--and doing so without charging tuition. In a tribute to New York's twice Mayor, W.R. Grace, founder of Grace Institute, current Mayor Michael Bloomberg proclaimed October 28, 2009 as Grace Day, recognizing the organization providing free administrative job training to more than 100,000 women since its founding. | |
