Courses vary for the day and evening programs but may include:
Computer Training
This course covers basic office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
and Outlook. You will become proficient in Word and Excel and learn how to create proper office
documents, letters, spreadsheets, and presentations. You will also learn professional use of the
Internet for e-mail and research.
Keyboarding
This class is designed to improve both typing speed and accuracy to provide you with the ability
to navigate your way around a keyboard quickly. Students must achieve a minimum speed of 45 words per minute.
Business Writing and Communications
This course starts by reviewing the essential rules of verbal and written communications, including grammar,
punctuation, and sentence structure. We then work with you to improve your presentation of ideas through
composing, editing, and proofreading office correspondence. Our goal is to ensure that your writing is
clear and concise and conforms to contemporary professional standards.
Office Procedures
This class teaches you what you need to know to obtain a job and succeed in your career. You will
investigate workplace trends, learn the hard and soft skills you need to succeed, discuss appropriate
business protocol, behavior, and attire, and explore different communication styles. You will learn how
to maintain a professional and positive attitude, examine how to manage professional relationships, and
look at time management and team building. You will demonstrate use of the internet for job searches,
travel arrangements, and more. You will also learn career development skills, including how to write an
effective resume, cover letter, and thank-you note, and how to prepare for an interview successfully.
Business Math
You will study some mathematical concepts and procedures that are useful in working with Microsoft Excel
and that will be helpful in an office environment. You will also be introduced to aspects of understanding
personal finance so that you can begin to establish a long-term plan for financial security.
